Project Finance Criteria & Definitions

All tables are year to date (Jan 1st to present), updated weekly and based on the following:-

Asia
includes North Asia, South East Asia and the Indian Sub Continent
North Asia: China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Macau, Mongolia, Taiwan.
South East Asia: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore,
Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam.
Indian Sub Continent: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka.
Australasia includes Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands.

League Table Definitions
• Mandated Arrangers – Asia (excluding Japan) & Australasia: lists the top 10 Mandated Arrangers, by rank value (see below), of all announced mergers and acquisitions, involving an Asian (excluding Japan) target or bidder.
• Arrangers – Asia (excluding Japan) & Australasia: lists the top 10 Advisors, by rank value (see below), of all completed mergers and acquisitions, involving an Asian (excluding Japan) target or bidder.
• Financial Advisers – Asia (excluding Japan) & Australasia: lists the top 10 Advisors, by rank value (see below), of all announced mergers and acquisitions, involving an Australasian target or bidder. Advisors providing fairness opinions are excluded from these tables.
• Legal Advisers – Asia (excluding Japan) & Australasia: lists the top 10 Advisors, by rank value (see below), of all completed mergers and acquisitions, involving an Australasian target or bidder. Advisors providing fairness opinions are excluded from these tables.

Transaction Eligibility
• Non-recourse and limited recourse, privately funded projects are eligible for league table credit.

Exclusions:
• Real Estate.
• Shipping or Aircraft Financing.
• Equipment financing (when not related to s a specific project).
• Agriculture and Manufacturing.
• Synthetic lease financing (except where the loan is majority non-recourse).
• Facilities where the borrower is the government.
• Facilities where the project is funded solely from a bilateral loan from a supranational or government development bank.
• Facilities where the loan or all of the loans benefit from a financial guarantee from the government or sponsors.

Ranking Methodology
• Mandated Arranger and Arranger League Tables are based on:
- equal apportionment between all mandated arrangers of loans for mandated arranger tables;
- equal apportionment between all mandated arrangers and arrangers of loans for arranger tables;
- final takes (or equal apportionment when final takes are undisclosed for loan participants;
- equal apportionment for bond bookrunners and managers;
- the loan agreement signing date for loan arrangers;
- the general syndication signing date for providers/participants;
- the bond payment date for bond bookrunners and managers.

• Financial Adviser and Legal Adviser League Tables are based on:
- the project’s financial close date, which is understood as the signing of the loan agreement between the top tier banks and the borrower;
- only projects financed, at least partly, on a non- or limited-recourse basis are included;
- ranking is based on an equal apportionment of the total project cost between organisations in the same role.
- Advisers receive credit for the following roles: adviser to the borrower (project company); adviser to the concession awarder; adviser to the divestor (if privatisation/acquisition); adviser to the lender.

• Facilities are included in league tables from:
- the loan agreement signing date for loan arrangers;
- the general syndication signing date for providers/participants;
- the bond payment date for bond bookrunners and managers.
